I don't really care if Revan is male or female. In the beginning I've always believed the character to be female, but then there came a confirmation that Revan is male, the Exile is female. I go by whatever is canon, but it is a bit strange cause imo I thought Revan had a bit of a female figure when they showed like flashbacks in the armor. But maybe I was just reading into things because at that time, like I said, I believed Revan to be female. Maybe he's just smaller compared to Malak who is quite tall and stronger built compared to Revan.
As for the romances, I think they are a bit irrelivent. A male Revan imo, makes as much sense in the story as a female when it comes to the romances. In fact since Bastilla is female, I think it's more interesting that Revan is male. But that's just me.
how? Neither gender made more sense than the other. the difference was insignificant. The only difference was in loveinterest and is that what this genderwar is about? In that case the genderwar is more redundant than I belived possible.
Having a Male Revan equates to Bastilla as the paramour. Then they still get left as pawns for the Council.
Female Exile you get stuck with the Han Solo wannabe. Lame on both accounts.
Female Revan equals Carth. Carth became an Admiral, and with a (marriage?) to Revan, it units the two arms of the Republics defenders.
Male Exile you get an Ecchani Jedi, whos the (half)daughter of a legendary Ecchani General and Hero; Who Revan publicly executed, earning the Jedi Order the ire and displeasure of an entire race of people. Not to mention her mother was a Jedi. By being with her, it puts the Jedi Order back in Ecchani good graces, if not granting them powerful friends and allies, not to mention the Male unlocking her entire backstory that the Female can't(And a gender exclusive Forces Power)< That alone speaks volumes. Not to mention that a Male Exile is hinted to have had a "relationship" with Master Atris...
And a Female Revan fits the story line better too,. She gets betrayed by her friend and apprentice on the cusp of pwndom and glory, she comes back and beats the big off his head. ..."no wrath like a woman scorned."... comes to mind....
So a female makes more since not only from a personal(relationship) point of view, but it makes more on the political one too, the Republic AND* the Order both come out better for it.
So in short a Female Revan not only looks better on paper, it sounds better too. Same for a Male Exile.
Actually, Gaider (one of the Bioware staff) showed up on a fan board before LucasArts came up with the fiat and admitted that he leaned towards the character being female. In game, you get a third ending (by deleting one line of code), a second romance option, and access to 2/3 of the largest in-game dialogue tree playing female. The interrogation also makes more sense playing female - you know Saul's not going to harm Bastila, but the ex-lieutenant who hates his guts? Totally asking for it. Besides, the Revan novel and the TOR Revan sidequest were such wall-bangers, I file the canonical Revan with "Han shot second" and the game of idiot ball played with Darth Caedus
really? we're doing this? Okay here's the thing; I'm indifferent in the whole gender-thing, the fact that it actually became a discussion is F'n moronic. I was stating the fact that bioware has since the production of SWTOR always presented Revan as male, even as far as the players meeting Revan in the game. I don't care what gender you prefer, i was simply refering to what bioware has done with the character since. My respectless tone in the OP is merely a result of my distaste for the subject of gender-wars.
